One of the Pertamina Hulu Energi ONWJ management team members gathered to bid farewell to the Floating Storage and Offloading (FSO) Arco Ardjuna at the Central Plant Platform of Pertamina Hulu Energi (PHE) Offshore West North Java (ONWJ) off the northern coast of West Java, on Saturday, August 17, 2024, waving and sounding trumpets. Arco Ardjuna, which operated for over 50 years from 1972 to 2024, was the first oil storage facility in Indonesia and played a crucial role in the country's oil and gas industry. It made a significant contribution by storing and distributing approximately 1.28 billion barrels of crude oil, with 4,350 oil liftings from the ONWJ block. The retirement of FSO Arco Ardjuna in 2024 marks a milestone that needs to be documented and publicized. FSO Arco Ardjuna has been the oil storage facility for PHE ONWJ since 1972. Due to safety requirements and standards, FSO Arco Ardjuna will be retired in August 2024 after more than five decades of operation. It was the first FSO in Indonesia and the oldest still in operation globally. It will be replaced by FSO AP. (Petromindo/Dasir)
