PT Supreme Energy, a geothermal developer company, said the construction of geothermal power plant PLTP Muara Laboh in South Solok, West Sumatera is on its way to start commercial operation in November this year, a company executive said.
The power plant with capacity of 80 MW is now 95 percent complete, said Ismoyo Argo, Senior Manager Business Relations of Supreme Energy, said on the sideline of Indonesia International Geothermal Convention & Exhibition (IIGCE) 2019 in Jakarta on Tuesday (13/08).
“Our target is that the first synchronization will be carried out in September this year, and followed by commercial operation in November,” Ismoyo Argo said.
Supreme Energy spent US$600 million in investment to develop the geothermal power plant, consisting of US$150 million coming from internal cash-flow and the remaining US$450 million coming from Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC), Asian Development Bank (ADB) as well as Leading Asia’s Private Infrastructure Fund (LEAP).
LEAP, established in March 2006, is an infrastructure co-financing fund, aiming at leveraging and complementing ADB's existing non-sovereign platform to fill financing gaps and increase access to finance for infrastructure projects in the region.
He said once the unit 1 is completed, the company will immediately develop PLTP Muara Laboh Unit 2 with installed capacity of 60 MW.
“Its development plan is being prepared. At present, we are still focusing on developing the unit 1,” he said.
The construction of the power plant began in April 2017 by PT Rekayasa Industri (Rekind), a major state-owned engineering and construction company.
