Pertamina New & Renewable Energy (Pertamina NRE), the clean energy subsidiary of Indonesia’s state-owned energy giant PT Pertamina, has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Netherlands-based HyET Group to collaborate on renewable energy technology innovation.
The agreement was formalized by Pertamina NRE CEO John Anis and HyET Group CEO Rombout Swanborn on the sidelines of the Indonesia–Europe Business Forum taking place in Berlin from September 2–9.
This strategic partnership aims to accelerate Indonesia’s energy transition by leveraging HyET’s advanced technologies in solar panels, energy-efficient electrolysis, lithium batteries, and blue and green hydrogen development. The collaboration will focus on identifying opportunities for technology deployment in Indonesia, initiating pilot projects, facilitating knowledge and capability transfer, and establishing commercialization pathways to support the adoption of renewable energy technologies.

“The development of renewable energy requires technological innovation. With HyET’s expertise in renewable energy technology, we hope this strategic collaboration will enable knowledge transfer that accelerates the energy transition,” said John in a statement on Monday
HyET Group, a Dutch technology company, is recognized for its cutting-edge solutions in renewable energy and hydrogen. Through this partnership, HyET aims to tap into Indonesia’s growing clean energy market.
“Indonesia is one of the most promising markets for renewable energy,” said Swanborn. “By combining HyET’s technological expertise with Pertamina NRE’s position as a key energy player in the region, we are confident this collaboration will produce effective and impactful solutions for the energy transition — not only in Indonesia but across Southeast Asia.”
Pertamina NRE emphasized the importance of strategic partnerships in achieving national energy transition goals. The company has been actively pursuing collaborations with reputable global players to support technology transfer, human capital development, and the scaling of low-carbon solutions.
In addition to expanding its renewable power generation portfolio, Pertamina NRE is also developing low-emission hydrogen, bioethanol for biofuels, carbon business initiatives, and other decarbonization strategies.
