The Institute of Coal Chemistry, Chinese Academy of Sciences (ICC-CAS) has signed an agreement with Anhua Chemical Industry Co., Ltd. for the development of a carbon-based new materials project in Indonesia, according to a recent press release.
The project is located at the Indonesia Morowali Industrial Park (IMIP) in Central Sulawesi Province, and marks another milestone in ICC-CAS’s effort to export its carbon technology following similar projects in Italy and other parts of Indonesia.

The new project is a collaboration between ICC-CAS and Shanxi Yangguang Coking Group, and represents the group’s first overseas venture. Upon completion, the facility is expected to deliver an annual production capacity of 50,000 tonnes of anode paste and 100,000 sets of cathode blocks.
The institute stated that this development reinforces its leading position in coal-based carbon materials and will contribute significantly to the supply chain for Indonesia’s growing new energy materials sector.
