Renewable energy company PT Barito Renewables Energy Tbk (IDX: BREN), through its subsidiary Star Energy Geothermal Pte. Ltd., is targeting an additional 111.75 megawatts (MW) of geothermal power capacity over the next two years.
According to Star Energy Geothermal CEO Hendra Soetjipto Tan, the planned capacity increase will span five project sites, with construction progress currently averaging around 20 percent.
"One of the projects is located in the Salak concession, including a 16.15 MW unit recently inaugurated by President Prabowo, as well as ongoing developments in Wayang Windu," Hendra told Petromindo.com during the inauguration of 55 renewable energy plants at the Ijen Geothermal site in Bondowoso, East Java, last week.

Hendra noted that project completion timelines vary, with some slated for this year and others expected to be finalized in 2026. “By December 2025, several retrofitting projects—including an 18.4 MW unit in Wayang Windu and another in Salak—are expected to be completed,” he said.
Looking ahead to 2026, Hendra highlighted two major projects—Salak Binary 7 and additional capacity in Wayang Windu—which are projected to contribute 70 MW, with commissioning scheduled for December 2026 or, at the latest, January 2027.
“This means that of the 111.75 MW, around 41.75 MW will be added this year, excluding the Darajat project, which is not part of the current expansion plan,” he added.
