PGEO hopes to accelerate Bukit Daun geothermal project

IDX-listed geothermal power producer PT Pertamina Geothermal Energy Tbk (IDX: PGEO) is optimistic that its Bukit Daun geothermal project in Bengkulu will soon advance to the next stage of development. The company has already completed exploration well drilling at the site as a preliminary step to evaluate its geothermal potential.

 “We hope to see faster progress in developing geothermal projects, and the Bukit Daun project is one that needs to move forward soon,” said Julfi Hadi, President Director of PGEO, in a recent statement. He did not disclose further details.

Drilling activities at Bukit Daun’s geothermal exploration wells have been ongoing since 2015. The company is targeting the phased development of a geothermal power plant with a total capacity of 3×30 MW.

The Bukit Daun geothermal power project is located within the Hululais geothermal working area, covering Rejang Lebong and Lebong Regencies. To support development in the area, PGEO has constructed a 21-kilometer access road.
