Indonesia’s state-owned energy company PT Pertamina and Scotland’s environmental services and consultancy firm Aquatera Ltd are engaged in talks for collaboration in offshore renewables development throughout Indonesia, such as tidal, offshore wind and floating marine solar power plants.
This was confirmed by Leuserina Garniati, Expert Consultant and Business Development Lead of Aquatera to Petromindo.com on Sunday.
“Our team in Indonesia is pioneering cooperation opportunities with Pertamina. Pertamina has expressed interest in collaborating with Aquatera in the offshore renewables sector like tidal, offshore wind, and floating marine solar,” she said without providing additional details.

Last February Aquatera was invited by the Scottish Development International (SDI) to present and participate in a meeting with the Indonesian government in Jakarta. Aquatera Group CEO, Gareth Davies presented Aquatera’s current projects and efforts in the Blue Economy area, specifically those focusing on sustainable island energy transition. During the meeting, Pertamina expressed interest to collaborate with Aquatera.
In order to achieve Net Zero Emission by 2060 or sooner, Pertamina through its subsidiary PT Pertamina Power Indonesia (PPI) will develop many projects in the renewables sector. At the Hannover Messe event on Thursday (20/04), Fadli Rahman, Director of Strategic Planning and Business Development of PPI said that the company plans to develop renewables projects of 60 GW to fulfil 15% market share with estimated investment value of US$50-55 billion.
