Muara Laboh geothermal plant to be completed in 2019

PT Supreme Energy Muara Laboh (SEML) aims to accelerate the construction of an 80 MW geothermal power plant project in Solok Selatan Regency, West Java, with a target for the power plant to start commercial operation in August 2019, Bisnis Indonesia reported on Monday.

 

?The target is for the power (plant) to start commercial operation in August of 2019,? said Yulnofrin Napilu, a senior manager at SEML to the paper.

 

He said that to produce 80 MW of electricity, the company will drill 13 production wells this year using two rigs. The first rig will drill seven wells starting in May 2017, and the second rig will drill the remaining six wells starting in July or August of this year. The company previously set plan to drill six exploration wells.

 

SEML is a consortium comprising of Indonesia?s PT Supreme Energy, Storengy and Sumitmo Corp. The company will sell the electricity output to state-owned electricity firm under a 30-year contract.

 

A US$440 million financing agreement has been signed by PT Supreme Energy Muara Laboh consortium with the Japan Bank for International Cooperation, the Asian Development Bank and a set of commercial banks under a guarantee from Nippon Export and Investment Insurance, to support clean energy development in Indonesia.
