Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Bahlil Lahadalia announced on Wednesday the tender winners for four geothermal working areas (WKP) and three geothermal preliminary survey and exploration assignment areas (WPSPE).
These seven geothermal projects are expected to generate a total investment of $1.82 billion, create 1,401 jobs, and add 320 MW of geothermal power capacity. The announcement was made at the Indonesia International Geothermal Convention and Exhibition in Jakarta, attended by President Joko Widodo.
PT Sumbawa Timur Mining will develop the Hu’u Daha WKP (60 MW) with an estimated investment of $404.4 million. Meanwhile, PT Geothermal Ormat Indonesia will develop the Toka Tindung WKP (40 MW) with an estimated investment of $202.5 million.

The Cisolok-Cisukarame WKP in West Java Province was awarded to PT Daya Anugerah Sejati Utama, a subsidiary of IDX-listed PT Dian Swastatika Sentosa Tbk (IDX: DSSA), which will develop a 40 MW power plant with an estimated investment of $210.5 million. Daya Anugerah also won the tender for the Nage WKP (40 MW, $205.7 million) in East Nusa Tenggara.
Additionally, two companies were awarded tenders for preliminary surveys and exploration in three WPSPE areas: PT Medco Power Indonesia at Samosir in North Sumatra (estimated investment of $228 million) and the Philippine-based Energy Development Corporation in Koto Sani Tanjung Bengkong ($222 million, 40 MW) and Bora Pulu ($228 million, 40 MW).
