Minister of Energy appoints new Director General of Oil and Gas

Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM), Bahlil Lahadalia, has officially appointed Laode Sulaeman as the new Director General of Oil and Gas. The appointment ceremony was held at the Chairul Saleh Building in the Ministry of ESDM Secretariat in Jakarta on Friday, 29 August 2025.

Laode Sulaeman, previously serving as the Director of Planning and Development for Oil and Gas Infrastructure at the Directorate General of Oil and Gas (Ditjen Migas), takes on the new role as the Director General in the same unit.

Laode holds a Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Indonesia (UI) and has held several important positions within the Ministry, including head of the Planning and Evaluation Division and head of the Electricity Investment Sub-Directorate.

In his new role, Laode is expected to drive the development of Indonesia's oil and gas infrastructure while contributing to the nation’s energy security.
