The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (MEMR) through its Center for Human Resources Development in Geology, Minerals, and Coal (PPSDM Geominerba), reaffirmed its commitment to training competent pyrometallurgy operators to bolster Indonesia's mining sector.
Pyrometallurgy, a vital process for extracting metals from mineral ores using heat, plays a pivotal role in producing top-quality metal products.
"Presently, the metal and mining industries necessitate skilled and trained personnel to manage these processes safely and efficiently. Certification stands as a crucial measure to showcase excellence and proficiency in this domain," stated Dwi Anggoro Ismukurnianto, Head of PPSDM Geominerba, during the signing of a collaboration agreement with state-controlled mining firm PT Aneka Tambang Tbk (IDX: ANTM) or Antam in Bandung on Thursday (4/4), as quoted in a statement.
Dwi underscored Indonesia's current shortage of experienced and proficient pyrometallurgy operators, stressing the critical need for adept professionals, particularly to support the downstream nickel industry in operating smelters and other pyrometallurgical equipment.

Alongside training initiatives, the Ministry collaborates with diverse educational institutions and industries to craft curricula and vocational programs tailored to the field of pyrometallurgy.
"This collaboration aims to produce graduates equipped with the competencies demanded by the mining industry," added Dwi.
With concerted efforts, the government is optimistic about Indonesia's capacity to cultivate competent and dependable pyrometallurgy operators, thereby bolstering the national mining sector.
The signing ceremony witnessed the presence of Antam's Director of Human Resources, Achmad Ardianto, along with Program Coordinator for Evaluation and Cooperation, Ade Hidayat, Program Sub-coordinator Ambardi Sukmana, Evaluation Sub-coordinator Fendra Nurpradana Putra, Cooperation Sub-coordinator Abdul Majid, and other distinguished guests.
