South Korean power generation firm Korea East-West Power announced on Monday that its Kalsel-1 Power Plant in South Kalimantan has been awarded the title of "2024 Best Performance Power Plant" by Indonesia’s state-owned electricity utility, PLN. This marks the third consecutive year the plant has received this accolade since 2022.
Kalsel-1, a circulating fluidized bed coal-fired power plant with capacity of 2x100 MW, is a joint venture between Korea East-West Power and Adaro Group, which is now renamed PT Alamtri Resources Indonesia (IDX: ADRO). The facility is recognized for its eco-friendly technologies and stable operations.

To maintain reliability, Korea East-West Power has deployed specialized personnel under a technical support agreement, ensuring regular preventive and predictive maintenance. In 2024, diagnostic measures performed by the company’s researchers helped reduce breakdown incidents to just four, including two unplanned shutdowns.
“This award highlights our technical expertise and operational excellence on the global stage,” said Korea East-West Power CEO Kwon Myung-ho. “We remain committed to transferring advanced power technologies overseas and expanding our international projects to support global energy development.”
