KEN spuds 2nd Kalimantan exploration well

PT Kalisat Energi Nusantara (KEN) commenced drilling at the NK-2 well  at Long Hubun Long Bagun onshore block in Mahakam Ulu, East Kalimantan on December 23, 2024.

The NK-2 well was planned based on in-depth geological studies and insights from the previous NK-1X well. Utilizing directional drilling techniques, the well is set to reach a depth of 5,700 feet with a maximum inclination angle of 15 degrees.

The program is expected to take 66 days—36 days for drilling and 30 days for completion.

The company drilled the first well NK-1X in 2020 but failed to discover commercial hydrocarbons.
