India’s state-owned power giant NTPC has set an ambitious coal production target of 40 million metric tonnes (MMT) from its captive mines for the fiscal year 2024-25.
This goal represents a significant 17 percent year-on-year growth in captive coal production, as stated by NTPC in a statement on Sunday.

The target of 40 MMT for coal production from its captive mines in FY25 is a strategic move by NTPC, aiming to fulfill over 15 percent of its coal requirement through these mines. This initiative is crucial for strengthening fuel security for the power major, the statement added.
As of March 31, 2024, NTPC had achieved a coal dispatch of 34.15 MMT, with production reaching 34.38 MMT. This indicates the company's proactive efforts in meeting its coal production targets.
