House demands Pertamina to maintain a 65 percent stake in CPP oil field

Head of the House of Representatives commission VIII on mining and energy Irwan Prajitno demanded on Tuesday the state oil and gas firm Pertamina to maintain its initial proposal to PT Caltex Pacific Indonesia (CPI) on the management of the Coastal Plains Pekanbaru (CPP) oil field in Riau once CPI's current contract expires in 2001.

Irwan said that Caltex should accept the 65:35 percent composition. There has been reports that Caltex wanted a 49 percent stake.

Irwan said that Pertamina should hold an open tender if Caltex declines to agree to the initial proposal.(*)
