Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Sudirman Said has approved a request from PT Muara Laboh, which plans to develop the Muara Laboh geothermal power plant project, in South Sulok Regency, West Sumatra, for an increase in the tariff of power to be produced by 2x110 MW power plant project.
According to a copy of the minister?s ruling seen on Saturday, the new power tariff from the plant project has been set at 13 US cents per kWh from the initial 9.40 cents per kWh as set under the minister?s 2011 ruling.
PT Muara Laboh is a joint venture among PT Supreme Energy, Engie and Sumitomo.
Muara Laboh will develop the first unit of 80 MW (projected to start operation (2019), to be followed with the second unit of 140 (to start operation in 2024.
The power purchase agreement (PPA) for the project was signed on March 2, 2012 with state-owned power firm PT PLN for a 30-year period after commercial operation date (COD).
