Ex-intelligence deputy appointed new president of MIND ID

Indonesian State-Owned Enterprises Minister Erick Thohir has appointed Maroef Sjamsoeddin as the new President Director of MIND ID, the state-owned mining holding company, replacing Hendi Prio Santoso, who had held the position since October 29, 2021.

MIND ID’s President Commissioner, Fuad Bawazier, confirmed the leadership change to Detik.com late Monday, stating that the decision was made during a shareholder meeting. “Yes, the change has been implemented this afternoon,” Fuad said.

Maroef, a retired Air Vice Marshal with the elite Air Force special forces unit, graduated from the Air Force Academy in 1980. Following his military retirement, he held various key positions, including Deputy Chief of the State Intelligence Agency (BIN) from 2011 to 2014, and President Director of PT Freeport Indonesia, the country's largest copper and gold producer, from 2015 to 2016.
