PT EDC Indonesia, a subsidiary of Philippines-based Energy Development Corporation (EDC), has completed geology, geochemistry, and geophysics (3G) surveys at its WPSPE Bora Pulu geothermal block in Palu Regency, Central Sulawesi.
“They have completed 3G surveys, including approximately 500 gravity stations and more than 200 magnetotelluric (MT) stations. The data will be used to delineate the prospective area and determine the locations for exploration well drilling,” a source from the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources told Petromindo.com on Tuesday.

The source added that the company plans to commence its first exploration drilling within the block by mid-2027, in accordance with the obligations for PSPE (Preliminary Survey and Exploration) executors.
According to the ministry, the exploration area covers about 78,388 hectares and is estimated to have a geothermal reserve potential of 52 MW.
EDC was granted PSPE rights for the Bora Pulu concession in September 2024, along with another block—WPSPE Koto Sani Tanjung Bingkung in West Sumatra Province.
Energy Development Corporation (EDC) is currently the world’s largest vertically integrated geothermal producer, with a total installed capacity of 1.18 GW.
