The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) is set to auction 30 oil and gas working areas. Yuliot Tanjung, Deputy Minister of ESDM, mentioned that Chevron, a major global player, may return to invest in Indonesia’s oil and gas sector.
"We are accelerating the auction process for these 30 working areas. One of the global players is Chevron, and they may decide to re-enter the market here. They have been away for some time but have considerable experience in the upstream oil and gas industry," Yuliot said to the reporters on Friday, May 16. However, Yuliot did not provide further details on the specific areas to be auctioned.

At the same time, Acting Director-General of Oil and Gas, Tri Winarno, added that if Chevron does re-enter the market, it would indicate that Indonesia's oil and gas sector remains an attractive investment destination. However, Tri refrained from revealing which specific blocks would be up for auction or those that might attract Chevron’s interest.
