C. Kalimantan suspends coal hauling through key route

The government of Central Kalimantan has suspended coal transportation along the Bukit Liti-Bawan-Kuala Kurun route, following a directive from Governor Sugianto Sabran.

The move is in accordance with the Governor's Circular Letter No. 500.11.1/06/2025, which calls for the cessation of transportation of mining and forestry goods on the affected road.

Katma F. Dirun, Acting Regional Secretary of Central Kalimantan, stated that the local government is evaluating the technical aspects of the route, which has been subjected to excessive weight loads. The road's maximum load capacity is estimated at 8 tons.

"We are halting all heavy transport activities along this route for now," Katma said on Thursday, as reported by Tribunkalteng.com.

The Department of Transportation and the Public Works and Housing Department of Central Kalimantan will work with local police to ensure enforcement of the ban. Monitoring teams are already in place to ensure compliance, with penalties for violators.

The provincial government is currently taking preventive measures before imposing stricter penalties.

Governor Sabran had previously prohibited large private-sector coal trucks from using the Palangka Raya-Kuala Kurun road to prevent further damage.
