IDX-listed coal producer PT Bukit Asam Tbk (IDX: PTBA) is targeting the completion and commercial operation date (COD) of the Tanjung Enim–Keramasan railway line in South Sumatra by the second quarter of 2026.
Turino Yulianto, Director of Downstream & Product Diversification at PTBA, said the 158-kilometer railway project will significantly boost the company’s coal transportation capacity by an additional 20 million tons per year.

“God willing, we expect COD by the second quarter of 2026. We continue to coordinate closely with our partners — PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) and PT KALOG,” Turino said during the company’s recent public expose.
He added that, in line with its transportation development strategy, PTBA is also pursuing capacity optimization initiatives at its existing port infrastructure this year. These include plans to increase handling capacity by 500,000 tons at both the Tarahan and Kertapati ports.
“With these upgrades, Tarahan's capacity will rise from 27.5 million to 28 million tons per year, while Kertapati will increase from 8 million to 8.5 million tons annually,” Turino said.
