For the first time in 2024, members of Competent Person Indonesia (CPI) will hold a conference in the Andrawina Room, Aneka Tambang Building, on May 29. The event, titled "Going Beyond: Reaffirming CPI’s Professionalism for a Better Mining Industry in Indonesia," aims to foster development in Indonesia's mining sector.
As a country rich in commodities such as coal, nickel, copper, gold, bauxite, tin, manganese, and rare earth minerals, the government expects active and participatory contributions from CPI members to improve the accuracy of reserve and resource data in its industrialization plans.
This significant event in the mining sector is organized in collaboration with the Indonesian Mineral Reserves Committee (KCMI), the Indonesian Mining Experts Association (PERHAPI), the Indonesian Geological Experts Association (IAGI), and the Indonesian Economic Geology Society (MGEI).
According to Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Decree No. 1827.K/30/MEM/2018, a Competent Person is an individual with the knowledge, skills, and experience to report exploration results (PHE), resource estimates (ESD), and reserve estimates (EC) for minerals and coal, as evidenced by a competency certificate in accordance with statutory regulations.
The conference will be attended by Kartika Wirjoatmodjo, Deputy Minister of State-Owned Enterprises; Septian Hario Seto, Deputy for Investment and Mining Coordination of the Coordinating Ministry for Maritime Affairs and Investment; Rita Susilawati, Secretary Director General of Mineral and Coal of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (MEMR); and industry players.
A workshop titled "Ore Reserves Unveiled: A Comprehensive Guide," led by Roderick Carlson, Principal Geologist & Geology Manager at AMC Consultant, will be held a day before the main event at The Aston Priority Simatupang Hotel.
