With the spreading of covid-19 in the last two years and price fluctuation of the mining commodities, more mining companies are forced to adopt digital transformation in the mining value chain as effort to keep improving the productivity and cost efficiencies in the mining operation.

More and more mining companies then invested in new digital technology among others of artificial intelligence, cloud computing, cyber security, internet of things, robots and big data analytic to store the mining’s exploration and operation data.

A number of the companies already used drone for aerial survey to conduct topographic surveys with claim of having better quality as collected by traditional methods with faster time of collection. The use of drone is also said to reduce the cost of a site survey and the workload of specialists in the field. In addition, the use of artificial intelligence is also expected to predict the potential deposit of mining commodities.

The webinar would explore how the digital technology used in mining value chain from the exploration task to ensure the long-term access to ore deposits, the use of new technology to mine and exploit higher grade ore in open pit mining and underground mining, the use of technology in downstream process to transform raw material into highly upgraded products and the use of digital in transportation system to transport the mining commodities into market.
