Biomass Fuel Mix in Power Generation: Prospects & Challenges
by Petromindo.com
Background
There is no question that coal contributes enormously to the high standard of living made possible by easy access to electricity. However, along with its benefits, the chemical make-up of coal and the older technologies used at most operating coal-fired power plants create significant environmental impacts. With the growth of total energy consumption and the increasing proportion of electric power in energy consumption in Indonesia, the severity of climate change and ecological environment consideration, the transformation of coal-fired power plants by adding Biomass to their fuel mix is imperative.
Cofiring biomass reduces emissions of CO2, establishes a reliable renewable energy source into the existing power plant and grid infrastructure, increases the value of forestry by-products and agricultural wastes, and act as a low-cost stepping stone for developing biomass supply infrastructures. According to international research, Indonesia is considered as the prominent producer of raw material for bioenergy and biomass sector, i.e. palm oil, sugar cane, paddy, corn, cassava and wood-waste.
Take an In-depth look into biomass to power supply, production and applications on this virtual event filled with presentations from industry end-users and running projects case studies. Hear experts focus on regulatory framework, fast paced market situation and more. Network and exchange ideas with colleagues from the energy industry. You will be joined by power companies, biomass producers, biomass traders & distribution companies, EPC Contractors and OEMs, and governments.
